Ahead of the Nigeria vs Libya clash, interim coach Austin Eguavoen is making crucial adjustments to the squad. Nigeria currently leads Group D of the AFCON qualifiers with 4 points from two games, while Libya sits at the bottom with just 1 point, eager to challenge Nigeria for a better standing.

Osimhen’s absence has become a major talking point before this important match. He suffered an injury during a match between Galatasaray and Kasimpasa, sidelining him for this doubleheader.

Nigeria will be taking on Libya on Oct 11 and 15, 2024. Fans are understandably concerned, as Osimhen was expected to spearhead Nigeria’s attack.

Equavoen’s scheme for Nigeria vs Libya match

In an interview with NFF TV, Eguavoen addressed the situation, emphasizing that the remaining players are prepared to step up. He kept some of his  strategies under wraps. However,  Medialord gathered that part of his schemes is securing early goals.

“The boys are ready to fight for those three points. Every second counts, and we understand the importance of getting the job done early,” he stated.

While acknowledging Osimhen’s impact, he reassured fans that others can rise to the occasion. “He may not be here physically, but I am sure he’s with us in spirit.”

Osimhen has contributed to five goals in four matches for Galatasaray and scored in Nigeria’s last qualification win.

Eguavoen also reached out to Samuel Chukwueze, stressing the need to choose the right moments to dribble and support teammates. As Nigeria prepares for the Nigeria vs Libya encounter, all eyes will be on how the team adapts without its key player.

Despite Nigeria being the favorites, Eguavoen acknowledges that Libya will be tough opponents. Nevertheless, he remains confident that the Super Eagles will secure victories.
