Hisbah arrests commissioner for adultery in an uncompleted building. He allegedly confesses to the crime but the woman tries to escape.

Operatives of Hisbah have arrested commissioner from Jigawa State for allegedly committing adultery with a married woman. The Kano State Hisbah command carried out the arrest following a complaint from the woman’s husband, Nasir Bulama, who lives in Kano.

Medialord.ng learnt the commissioner was caught red-handed in an uncompleted building with the said woman.

An Hisbah official, speaking on condition of anonymity, explained, “The husband, Nasir Bulama, told us that he suspects the commissioner of having an affair with his wife and mother of his two children.”

After receiving the complaint, the operatives conducted intense surveillance. They caught the commissioner on Thursday night after he entered an uncompleted building he owns.

“Upon our operatives knocking at the door, he came out with his gateman, asking who it was while she sat inside the vehicle,” the source added. When she saw the operatives and her husband, she attempted to escape. She switched on the car and tried to drive away but hit a wall and then the gate.

After trying to flee and damaging the vehicle, she faced two other vehicles blocking her path. This forced her to stop. “The commissioner confessed to having had an affair with the woman at least three times,” the source said.

Legal proceedings to follow Hisbah arrests

The Hisbah command plans to charge both individuals in court once their investigation is complete. Hisbah Director General Abba Sufi confirmed the arrest, stating, “We have been having problems with Sankara because he is operating illicit drug centers in the name of hotels, with prostitution and drug addiction activities.”

Sufi added that they will prosecute Auwal Sankara on Monday in a competent court of law. Hisbah arrests commissioner Sankara reflect the agency’s ongoing commitment to addressing moral offenses in the community.

In the past year, the Hisbah command in Jigawa State has intensified efforts to combat adultery and related moral offenses. As an Islamic law enforcement agency, Hisbah promotes ethical behaviour and upholds Islamic values. The agency focuses on adultery, viewing it as a significant social problem.
