Silhouettes, indicating disagreement line in the Jay Z alleged rape case

A lawyer asked the court on Monday to reveal the lady accusing the American music mogul, Jay Z of alleged rape. Alex Spiro, lawyer to Jay Z (real name Shawn Carter), suggested hiding the identity of the lady was “an effort to procure a quick, extortionate settlement.”

Jay Z has been accused of raping an unknown lady in 2000, when she was a 13-year-old girl. In the suit, the lady was named as “Jane Doe,” not real name. The crime was allegedly committed along with rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs. Spiro argued that the woman remaining anonymous was “inconsistent with a genuine effort to determine the truth or falsity of these allegations.”

Spiro said Jay Z was “respectfully seeking either dismissal of the allegations or disclosure of the Plaintiff’s identity.”

In a court filing, he accused the plaintiff and her counsel of a calculated media smear campaign against the defendant. He said the act was “not consistent with justice, fairness or the rules governing federal proceedings.”

A counter in Jay Z alleged rape case

Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee, filed the lawsuit against Jay Z and Combs. In his reaction to Spiro’s motion,  he told NBC News indirectly called Jay Z and his attorney “foolish.” According to him, anyone describing the “demand letter” he serves as “extortion or blackmail, is foolish.”

“These kinds of demand letters are sent on a daily basis across the United States. Attempting to attack me to take the focus off of the alleged perpetrator won’t work. It won’t intimidate us,” he added.

In the lawsuit against Carter and Combs, the accuser claims the accused assaulted when she was driven to an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000.

Jay Z denied the allegation on Sunday night, describing it as “idiotic.” He also accused Buzbee of engaging in unprofessional behaviour.

“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?” Carter said in a statement to NBC News. “These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”

The accuser’s claim

The accuser wants unspecified damages. The lawsuit is filed under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.

In the lawsuit against Carter and Combs, the “Jane Doe” accuser claimed Combs’ driver  invited her to a house party. He allegedly told her  she “fit what Diddy was looking for.”

The driver eventually drove her to a white house. She claimed she had to sign what she believed was a nondisclosure agreement to enter the party. The party was filled with celebrities and people doing drugs, she alleged in the suit. After she drank, she allegedly felt “woozy, lightheaded and felt [like] she needed to lie down,” the suit says.

She went into a room to rest and, shortly afterward, Combs and Carter entered, NBC reports. She alleges that Jay Z  raped her, while Combs and an unnamed female celebrity watched. Then, Combs took his turn as Jay Z and the unnamed woman watched, she alleges.
