‘Bobrisky arrested at the Seme Boarder’. That was the news that stirred the social media early on Monday, amid his ongoing probe by the Federal House.
This occurred at the Seme border during routine passport checks, Medialord.ng learnt. He was arrested at midnight, while trying to sneak out of Nigeria, a source said.
He had given his passport to someone else to stamp. An officer noticed his name and requested him to exit the vehicle, the source said
The authorities reportedly detained until the morning and is currently at the Lagos zone of the NIS in Ikeja.
Ongoing investigations
Bobrisky is currently under probe by the House of Representatives. The EFCC is also investigating his alleged claim that he bribed some security officials to drop money laundry charges against him.
Reports surfaced that he allegedly paid N15 million to EFCC officials to dismiss charges against him. This claim came to light through a leaked audio recording by social media influencer VeryDarkMan, which has intensified public interest and scrutiny.
VDM’s role as Bobrisky is arrested
Martins Ortse, known as VeryDarkMan, has been a pivotal figure in the unfolding drama. His leaked audio recording accusing Bobrisky of bribery sparked significant controversy.
VDM was also one of those who disclosed Bobrisky’s arrest on Monday. VDM displayed a message he received on an Instagram video stating, “Bobrisky was arrested this morning at Seme border post on his way to escape to Benin Republic. He sent someone to help him sign his international passport, and he hid in his car. The Nigerian immigration service is currently holding him.”
This incident has turned VDM into a contentious figure himself, as supporters and detractors debate the authenticity of his claims. His role in bringing these allegations to light has positioned him at the center of the ongoing investigation, with both individuals facing scrutiny from the public and law enforcement.
Public reaction and impact
The combination of these factors has created a turbulent atmosphere for Bobrisky. Public opinion is sharply divided. While some continue to support him, many others see his troubles as a reflection of deeper issues within Nigerian society regarding accountability and corruption. This scrutiny has led to significant media coverage, further complicating Bobrisky’s public image and his ongoing battles with the EFCC and social media critics.
