Fresh troubles load for Bobrisky, increasing his ongoing jail concerns. It’s a season of brewing storm for the poplar cross-dresser as friends dessert him. And, unfolding facts point to his impending and eventual real incarceration.
Bobrisky, the popular Nigerian social media figure, faces renewed troubles that have captured public curiosity. As his jail concerns increase, his friends are beginning to fade into the shadows. Already, known friends like Tonto Dike and Fathia Balogun snub him. Gradually, Bobrisky’s case is mirroring that of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
His sharp reaction to VDM’s release of an audio clip has stirred considerable controversy. In the audio, Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky, allegedly discussed how he evaded jail. He firmly denied all accusations, claiming, “I didn’t pay any EFCC money, which is a very big lie. I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information.”
However, recent developments complicate Bobrisky’s defense. Notably, Falana & Fanala’s Chambers disclosed in a letter that Bobrisky reached out to Falz for financial assistance. This money was reportedly intended to bribe prison officials. Such an admission raises serious questions about Bobrisky’s claims of innocence.
Next, he tried a diversion, claiming he was contemplating suicide over the matter. Clearly, that was what some observers call an unsuccessful “emotional blackmail.” Resorting to whipping up unnecessary sentiments to divert attention suggests Bobrisky has reached his wits end. He must be nursing heavy regrets on how he made the alleged recorded call. Idris seems to be moving closer to the real jail now!
Silent admissions and Bobrisky jail concerns
Two prison officials already face hurried suspension following these troubling revelations. They are Michael Anugwa and Sikiru Adekunle, both Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) at the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kirikiri, Lagos State. The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board announced their suspension, linking them to the bribery allegations that have sparked widespread condemnation across the nation. “The suspension of these officers is to allow for further investigation into the various allegations while assuring that the outcome would be made public when concluded,” the statement emphasized.
Critics are questioning how authorities could identify specific individuals to suspend even before an official investigation. Notably, no names were mentioned in the video, raising suspicions about the process. This swift action indicates that authorities recognize wrongdoing within the prison system. It suggests that Bobrisky’s interactions with officials may have involved more than casual conversation.
Furthermore, Bishop Kayode Williams, the Director General of the Prison Rehabilitation Mission, made a striking admission on national television. He confirmed on Arise TV that Bobrisky is a homosexual. Under the Nigerian law, if true, that can lead to a 14-year prison sentence. This statement places Bobrisky in a precarious legal position.
Bishop Williams noted, “The accommodation that is provided for males, are they going to bring Idris with his transgender look to sleep in the general cell? They first decide how to treat someone like that. They provided him a special place for protective custody because, with his appearance, he would be in danger.”
Fading Friends
As things go awry for Bobrisky, some of his known friends seem to have abandoned him. Knowledgeable entertainment sources said many of them fear being roped in with the cross dresser. American rapper, Sean “Diddy” Combs, faces a similar situation.
Diddy is currently facing sex trafficking charges. Many expect his high-profile friends not to remain silent over his defense. However, the reverse has been the case. Prominent music moguls like Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled and French Montana have remained quiet, suggesting that they are distancing themselves from Combs.
Brobrisky seems in a similar boat of abandonment. In a recent post, he hinted at the feeling thus: “The people I wish could sympathise with me are my late parents, but who will fight for you? Friends?”
So far, Bobrisky’s known friends have equally been silent over his travails. Tonto Dikeh, Mompha, Tiannah (Toyin Lawani), James Brown, Mercy Eke, among others have not spoken yet on the matter. Although their relationship with Bobrisky have been full of drama, many expect them to show public support to a friend in times of trials.
As these developments unfold, the likelihood of Bobrisky returning to the real jail appears increasingly probable. The combination of bribery allegations and the admission of his sexual orientation complicates his situation further. As the legal landscape shifts, Bobrisky jail concerns are at the forefront. Will he face the consequences of his actions, or will he find another way to evade justice? Only time will reveal the outcome.
