Bobrisky N15m bribe saga is generating more attention across the nation. The House of Representatives kickstarted an investigation into the matter on Monday. The outing resulted intrigues and high-tension drama.

Bobrisky was not present on Monday, when VeryDarkMan (VDM) addressed the federal lawmakers over the ongoing N15m bribery allegation. VDM’s appearance however brought a lot of high-tension drama.

On noting Bobrisky’s absence, VDM offered to speak through his lawyer. He based his reason on the fact that Bobrisky was represented by a lawyer.  Bobrisky’s lawyer claimed without any evidence that his client was ill.

However, VDM later narrated how he got hold of the offending recorded call. According to him, a victim of Bobrisky’s alleged blackmail sent it to him.

VDM said he was concerned that EFCC was arresting young Nigerians on minor charges, yet was allegedly involved in corruption.

The House of Representatives stepped into the matter after VDM published an audio where Bobrisky allegedly made startling claims.

In it, a voice suspected to be that of Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky) implicated some EFCC officials.  It claimed Bobrisky bribed them  to drop  money laundry charges. It also said he did not serve his six months jail term inside prison.

Bobrisky’s defense and authorities’ actions.

Bobrisky has denied knowledge of the audio and its content. He went ahead to sue VDM for N1billion for an alleged defamation. He also denied bribing any EFCC official for any reason.

In a post on his social media handle, the cross-dresser claimed he served his time in full.

However, the EFCC promptly set up an investigation into the matter. The anti-graft agency also invited Bobrisky and VDM. They are yet to respond to that invitation.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior acted sharply by suspending two senior prison officials over the matter.

VDM addresses lawmakers on the Bobrisky N15m bribe saga

VDM initially refused to speak to the  House Committee on Financial Crimes. He noted that Bobrisky was not present at the hearing and wondered why. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanji, explained why VDM initially refused to speak on the Bobrisky N15m bribe issue.

“He has not said he is not going to speak. At least, we came prepared with almost everything that is needed by this committee here. We have even come with additional evidence that is not available online. We have come with everything.

“He is not saying, I don’t want to assist the committee or I don’t want to talk. He is saying because that person who should be here is not here, who has sent a lawyer to represent him or her, that he too is not going to talk directly, that he is going to talk through his counsel. That’s all he is saying and nothing more,” the lawyer said.

VDM and the Falanas

In the annoying audio, Femi Falana, SAN and his son, Falz, were mentioned. Falz subsequently sued VDM for defamation.

VDM initially argued that Falz should have sued Bobrisky who mentioned him in the audio. In another video, he said he had a lot of respect for “Uncle Falana” and would never defame him.

At the House of Reps appearance on Monday, VDM apologised to the senior Falana, SAN.

“Right now, some people are taking advantage of what is going on to target Femi Falana and I would like to say here now that I apologise to him for the dent on his name. However, it’s so sad that his name was inside that audio, I could not believe it as well, that was the part that even irritated me more which I said I refused to believe that he would be part and party to something like that,” he said.

There appears to be more intrigues awaiting Nigerians. The days ahead promise more drama, especially when Bobrisky responses to the federal lawmakers’ invitation.
