Tinubu nominates six new ministers, including Bianca Ojukwu. That puts to rest speculations over the an impending cabinet reshuffle.
President Bola Tinubu has implemented significant changes in his cabinet. He sacked some ministers and nominates seven new candidates for the National Assembly’s confirmation.
The dismissed six ministers include Prof. Tahir Mamman (Education), Uju Kennedy Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Mohammed Gwarzo (State for Housing). Others are Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), and the suspended Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Betta Edu.
Portfolios for those Tinubu nominates
Among others, Tinubu nominates Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Dim Odeimegwu Ojukwu. She is the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, in waiting. The president also nominates Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment.
In addition to these nominations, the president resigned ten ministers to new portfolios. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced these changes. The information came after a Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Earlier, Onanuga had announced Tinubu’s decision to scrap some ministries, including Niger Delta and Sports. That gave an indication that some ministers would have to go. However, the names of those affected was not immediately know.
