Jay Z in rape case, linked to Sean Diddy’s ongoing federal prosecution. But Jay’s reaction was sharp, calling the allegation “idiotic.”
The music icon, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was linked to another music with Sean “Diddy” Combs. The federal lawsuit which was filed in October in the Southern District of New York, was refiled Sunday to include Carter.
Jay-Z’s reaction was sharp, calling the allegations “idiotic.” He accused Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee, who filed the suit, of engaging in unprofessional behaviour.
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?” NBC News quoted Carter. “These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
Jay Z in rape case: ‘Shameless publicity stunts’
Buzbee has filed several accusing Combs of assault and rape. This is the first time another high-profile person is named.
Combs’ legal representatives called the suits “shameless publicity stunts.” It said the cases were designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them.
“As his legal team has said before, Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor,” the statement read.
The counter suit
Buzbee claims they tried to reach out to Jay Z before Sunday. “Carter received a letter from Plaintiff’s counsel requesting a mediation to resolve this matter,” he wrote in the suit. However, Jay Z reportedly filed his own lawsuit against Buzbee.
“You have made a terrible error in judgement thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same,” Jay Z said in his Sunday statement. “I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games…have very strict codes and honour. We protect children.”
